2007 Washington BCD Result

Another BCD tournament came and gone, as usual, we have a good turnout,

there're just under 100 players signed up.  Beside the local players,

We have players from Montana, Oregon, San Francisco and Spokane.

We do want to thank everyone for participating in the tournament.

We got to use Mercer Island Community center as a venue for the first time,

it turns out to be a wonderful facility to host the tournament,

walls are brown (not white), spacious spectator area, nice gym,

don't know how many people get to relax and enjoy the view of the Lake

while not playing, you even get to take a bath if shower is not good enough.

We did have to tape the singles lines right before the tournament,

the center plans to resurface the gym and should have all the badminton lines

early next year.  The blower draft does not seems to affect the play too much.

Our new t-shirt designer Linda came up with a very clever design and

she only got to use MS PowerPoint.  We'll expect a even better and

creative design in the future.  No pressure, Linda...

As usual, our chefs JJ && JJ provide the food/drink to keep us

fed and energized through out the tournament.  I did request

some Indonesian food, maybe next time...

Katherine Ip came up with great idea to place white PCV pole (made by

Andy Lin) per WBF regulation under the net.

The level of playing is getting higher each year, we keep on seeing the

continue improvement of the younger players, there're less and

less so called "easy games" in the first round.  The very arguable

No 1 player (before Sunday, Nov 18th) in Montana, Stinky suggested to

have a EFG tournament in the future, Montana, here we come.

The new comers sister and brother Sandy and Alex Lee are the surprise

of the tournament, Alex lost very tough 3 game against Robert Chan

in the Men's singles quarter final, but the elder Sandy won the women's

singles and doubles.

The mixed double is probably the most interesting and challenging event,

we have quite a few adults pair with juniors.  Definitely, made it

tough for anyone who got to play against pair like Kevin/Christine

or Tao/Vicky.  The top 2 teams got to play against other in the final,

in a very tightly contested 3 games, Iviee Li and Robert Chan came

up ahead against Tomomi and Shu Ito.

In Women's singles, young Renata did great to have a upset win to reach

the final, but lost to the stronger Sandy.

In the men's singles, Sisavat (Long) came out strong and did not let up

to win in 2 games against K D Len.

Sandy kept up her strong play and teamed up with partner Leonore to win

against the Japanese pair of Masako and Yukiko.

In men's doubles, Long and Tim came up winner against Shu and JK. they just

played better toward the end of each game.

I do want to thank for all the people that help, without you, we are not able

put on the tournament.  Hopefully, I did not miss anyone.
